Admission Process for Postgraduate Medical Courses (MD/MS/Diploma)

Admissions to postgraduate medical programs (MD/MS/Diploma) at Maharashtra’s Government, Corporation, and Unaided Private/Minority Medical Colleges are managed through a centralized online counseling process conducted by the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Mumbai.

To participate, eligible candidates must fill out the PG medical admission application form online via the official CET Cell portal. Only those who have qualified in the NEET-PG exam are eligible for admission under both the State Quota and All India Quota.

Seat Distribution Overview:

Government/Corporation Medical Colleges:

• 50% of seats are reserved for All India Quota,
• The remaining 50% fall under the State Quota.
• From the State Quota, 50% of postgraduate diploma seats are specifically reserved for in-service government medical officers who have served a minimum of three years in remote and/or difficult areas of Maharashtra.

Unaided Private & Minority Medical Colleges:

• 100% of seats are filled through the State CET Cell.
• These are split equally into:
• 50% CET Cell Quota Seats
• 50% Institutional Quota Seats, which includes up to 15% NRI Quota.

All seats, whether in government or private institutions, are filled strictly on the basis of NEET-PG merit through the State Competent Authority.

Documents Required for Admission (MBBS – NEET-UG Based)

Candidates seeking admission to SSPM Medical College must ensure they have the following documents ready at the time of counseling and admission:

Essential Documents

• NEET-UG Admit Card
• NEET-UG Scorecard/Mark Sheet
• Nationality Proof – Any one of the following:
  • Nationality Certificate issued by a competent authority such as the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, or Metropolitan Magistrate
  • Valid Indian Passport
  • School Leaving Certificate (HSC/12th Std.) mentioning nationality as Indian
• Domicile Certificate – Issued by a competent authority in Maharashtra
• HSC (12th Std.) Mark Sheet or equivalent examination result
• SSC (10th Std.) Passing Certificate – as proof of Date of Birth
• Aadhaar Card

• Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner, confirming the candidate’s physical fitness for the course.

For Candidates Applying Under Constitutional Reservation (Category Quota)

Additional documents required:

• Caste Certificate – Issued by a competent authority within the State of Maharashtra
• Caste Validity Certificate
• Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (valid up to 31st March 2025)
  • Required for VJ, NT1, NT2, NT3, and OBC (including SBC) categories
  • SC and ST category candidate do not require this certification.
